The night market,or move commonly known as 'Pasar Malam' is a weekly affair in Desa Damai.Come Monday,hawkers can be setting up their make shift stalls usearly as four o'clock in the hot afternoon,in a big open space a short distance away from residential arcas.Visitors who patrionize the stalls come from all over the neighbouring housing estates.
By 7.00 pm,an air of festivity prerails.Almost all the stails would have been set up,displaying a wide array of grocerres,greens,fish,meat,eggs,food,foot wear,clothes and other consumer goods that are beyond your imagination.By then,most of the parking lots,would have been taken are by cars,motorcycles and vans.The open space has now transformed into a multi-coloured night market cum eating outlet.

CHARACTERS
PERCY:
-A poor orphan who does not know that his mother was killed by Lord Septic's father.
-very brave to retaliate against Lord Septic and Crouch.
-Heroic as he is ready to perform a dangerous deed to save Rose.
-Quick thinking and conducts his plan swiftly.
ROSE:
-The maiden in distress.
-She used to work in a match factory but it was destroyed in a fire and she becomes blind.
-She sells sprigs of Heater to find the money needed for her mother's pills.
-She lives in room in the attic that is full of dry rot owned by Lord Septic.
-She is cold and hungry
LORD SEPTIC:
-A greedy villain in quest for the Gatsby Gold.
-He is cruel towards the poor.
-He is unhumane as he is ready to kill Rose by tying her up on the railway tracks.
-Deceptive as he only married his wife because she owns a gun factory.
-He is arrogrant and talks rudely to his assistant Crouch.
CROUCH:
-He is Lord Septic's assistant.
-He grovels a lot just to please Lord Septic.
-Dim-witted which normally causes misunderstandings and him being scolded by Lord Septic.
-He is harsh and rude when her forces Rose to leave the platform.
-Obedient and follows orders even as far as killing someone.

MORAL VALUES
1.We must not look down on the poor and the less privileged:
- Lord Septic is an arrogant aristocrat is condescending in both hid deeds and utterance.In the play he would easily snap at Crouch his assistant by calling him You fool.He also goes on uttering harsh words towards Crouch shut up,you half -wit'.
2.we must defend ourselves and the people that we care for in times of danger
- Percy manages to find ways to get the train to stop that he could save Rose.He has managed to escape and comes back just to save Rose from her ill fate.
3.we must be quick thinking at all times.
- Lady Gatsby was tricked by Lord Septic's father to come to the ststion with her bag of gold.However she was quick thinking as she knewn that she was being tricked.She decided not to let him get his hands on the gold and secretly hid it in the lockers at the railway station.

MORAL VALUES
1.Be kind to others especially to the less fortunate
- Lucy is borth kind and sympathetic towards Miss Broome and her Uncle Bert.She realises that both these people feel dejected and lonely.Lucy uses her discretion and shows Miss Broome that the fact that she was laid off work as a secretary was because the firm was worrid about her health.She later gives assurance to Uncle Bert that she and her mother want him to live there with them as he is part of the family.Lucy manages to solve her problem by showing a little kindness to these towo people who in her view are the less fortunate.
2.work hard to gain success
- Lucy is adamant to succed in her job even when her mundane task of getting the letters typed appears to be a big problem for her.This is because she is regularly interrupted by the ghost of Miss Broome who keeps on making typo erros on the letters that she is typing.Lucy puts her foot down and faces the problems by keeping on typing the letters although she has to stop regularly and smother the mistakes with liquid paper.In the end Lucy manages to complete a small number of letters that she leaves on Mr Ross's table.

THE SETTING
The story takes place mostly in the office where Lucy Beck lands her first job as a secretary.It is an old company that has been around for more than thirty years.The furniture is a little old and dark and Lucy sits near a window that overlooks the bright shops down below.The curtains move a little in the autumn breeze.There is a an electric typewriter that Lucy uses to type letters from the recorded messages left by her boss Mr Ross.The next setting that has been briefly mentioned is Lucy's home where she live with her mother and Uncle Bert.
